This is an inappropriately used exclamation point: https://writingexplained.org/grammar-dictionary/exclamation-point

Thanks, @AOLocalizationLab. This string was changed in https://github.com/freedomofpress/securedrop/commit/aa4b45ec8f237ba24da85abbc237d6b47059365f, but the exclamation mark has been in place for a long time. This is idiomatic in casual English, but it sounds like there's a localization reason to avoid it. Is that right?
(The suggestion period for v2.5.0 has passed, but I'm happy to follow up on this change as necessary.)

Hi, @cfm As a writer, I can say that exclamation points are often misused these days. They should be used for exclamatory sentences, not to emphasize. Did you read https://writingexplained.org/grammar-dictionary/exclamation-point As for L10, different languages have different grammar rules :)

@cfm In apps, exclamation points should be used to express danger, risk, an important warning. This is even more true for a platform where security is essential. The idea is to catch the users’ attention when it is required only :)
